If your prospects do not see you as someone who can help them get what they want, they WILL NOT join you no matter what you have to offer.

I see so many confused faces and almost shell shocked expressions from people who are in network marketing wondering why some people do not jump in on their offer to financial freedom. Even if you have a great business product and compensation, if your prospect does not see any value in you or what you can do for them, NOTHING you have will matter.

Leading with hype, like so many network marketers do, is why so many struggle and quit. If you do not believe me, you only need to take a glance at the industry's average success rate. (This is not the only reason why people fail but it's a big one)

People think leading with:

  • “Ground-breaking opportunity”
  • “Once in a lifetime opportunity”
  • “Best compensation Plan”
  • “Best business in the world and / or galaxy” (Someone once pitched me with the greatest in the solar system .LOL)

I'm going to be blunt when I say that NO ONE cares what company you are in, what your compensation plan looks like, what products or services you are promoting, and how wonderful your company is if you did not LEAD with value for your prospect's needs and wants. To a certain degree, people only care about themselves.

Give your business and its presentation a “So-what” test.

So what if you're making a lot of money, how does that help your prospect's problems? So what you're “in the best” company that has the “best products,” how does that help your prospects? Why should they do business with you and not someone else?

If you can answer that question, you can get more sign-ups and more people to show up for your business presentations, online or offline.

People only care about what's in it for them and how whatever you offer them applies to them and their problems. READ THIS AGAIN! It will mean the difference between leaving money on the table and having more interested prospects.

Lead with value, lead with how your business, service, product, or system solves their problems.

Remember this, “Who are you, Why should I care, and What's in it for me?” (The 3 Ws)

An interested prospect is thinking those things. Understand that your business, your products, the compensation, the perks, etc are all supplements to aid your sign ups but they are not the REASON people join you .

In a network marketing business, it's crucial to your success that you build a downline; ie, sign up people under you on your team. But should you also be giving them constructive criticism on how they're running their business?

Personally, no. I would not provide any criticism at all without your team member specifically requests it. Your team members in your downline are small business owners themselves; you're not their Boss, and you would not tell another business owner how to run his business.

What you should be doing is simply reassuring them that you're there to help if they need it because even constructive criticism can come across the wrong way to some people. And the last thing you want is for your team members to start dropping out of the program because they might think they're doing everything wrong.

So How Can You Be a Successful Team Leader?

Here are some suggestions:

Share your marketing strategy.
If you have a plan or strategy in place that is working, just share it with your downline and touch on the importance of duplication, but at the same time remind them that they're running their own business and if they have a strategy that's working well for them, you're open to hear about it.

Share your online business ideas.
Reach out to your downline at least once a week with online business ideas that you have and ask for their ideas too. It's always possible that people who have signed up with you may have more experience in MLM or online business in general, so you can all teach other new tricks and tips that make the whole team profitable.

Sharing and Duplication
Being a team leader in a network marketing company is all about sharing and duplication, so it's important that you have a strategy in place for doing that. But I personally believe that a team leader should not critique another person's business operations unless they're specifically asked to.

For example, you might be having great success at Facebook marketing, but some of your team members do not like Facebook, so they're using Twitter or Google+. Instead of providing even constructive criticism about how important it is to be using Facebook, ask them what their strategies are for using Twitter and Google+.

Another team member might be crushing it using Pinterest. Get their input on using Pinterest and share your strategy for Facebook.

Once you have all of your team members ideas, put together an email or video tutorial to share with the whole team and explain that one strategy for one marketing venue is not any better than the other, and just suggest that maybe want to try something different and add it to their own marketing strategies.

If they do not ask for it – do not give it.
You might think your team members are doing it all wrong, but it's not up to you, as a team leader, to provide any type of constructive criticism to them unless they contact you and specifically ask for your opinion.

And when you do give them an opinion, make sure it's just that – an opinion. We all marketing in different ways depending on what we like to do best. And the more you enjoy what you do, the more consistent you'll be at it, and the more successful too.

Most people fail to understand that they can manufacture their success if they understand that skills and knowledge is what separates them from their vision of building a successful business. No longer do you need to rely on hype or emotional motivations but on a foundational structure that can propel you to success.

I'll be sharing the four business skills that can make a big difference between a successful business and one that fails to ever create leverage.

1) Take the Emotions out of it

Since many people in this industry came in with no business background, a lot of their activities are EMOTIONALLY BASED. When it comes time to perform or getting out of your comfort zone, people will begin to have dozens of different emotions.

a) Fear, hesitancy, self-doubt, etc all which could hinder many people's efforts

b) Many people quit because of the emotional occupation with the activities, not the actual business as a whole, that are necessary to succeed

No one says you can not be passionate about your business. Passion is great to have, but the important thing to remember is to not be attached to options and treat your business like “any other day at the office.”

If someone says no to your business presentation, it's just another day at the office. If someone on your team leaves to join another company, it's just another day at the office. Someone says they're going to join your business or show up to your presentation but does not, it's just another day in business. Whatever the circumstances, it's just another day at the office.

You are not fazed as you understand this is part of the process. This is having an abundant mindset.

An abundant mindset knows that learning comes from failing. It is not worried about where to find people or if someone leaves, it understands there is enough people for everyone. It knows people will join their business and know that they need to treat their business like a business.

2) Implementation

If you read something, take a course, go to an event or training seminar, and you're taught something and did not apply those teachings, you have literally wasted your time.

It is important to immediately implement what you're taught. This is where most people drop the ball.

They enthusiastically go to events and get motivated by the training but fail to take action. Most people buy course after course, listen to them but fail to take action. The only thing people apply is Avoidance Behavior.

If you do this enough, it will actually feel like you've done a lot of hard work. Our mind can fool us sometimes. I can not tell you how many times I heard things repeated from different trainings that I've bought and fell into the trap of thinking “I've heard this all before” but it never crossed my mind to actually do it.

The main reason for this has a lot to do with the fact that I was looking for some sort of quick fix or new information to help me succeed.

Occasionally, only by banging my head a couple of times with some common sense did I finally realize I have to actually apply what I'm taught.

Many people fall into this trap. They are constantly looking for something outside of themselves for success. Stop looking for success outside of yourself and realize you do have it in you to succeed. Look internally to achieve your external rewards. Only through implementation can you receive success.

3) Productivity

Can you imagine a mall, a store, or a restaurant open for weeks, even months, and make no money?

They would be out of business FAST. Your network marketing business should be no different. I have seen, and I'll admit to being a part of this group at one point, some network marketers who have gone weeks, months, even years without ever generating cash for their business.

Many people quit because of lack of profit. A serious business owner can not invest in a business and go weeks, months, and especially years without profit.

A lot of this comes from two issues:

a) Lack of sales training and marketing

b) Not treating the business like a business

Productivity means to be doing consistent emerging producing activities. Learning how to create cashflow to keep your business alive is necessary.

4) Cashier Mentality

Picture yourself as a retail employee for any company.

Having once worked in retail, I never felt scared to tell people the price they needed to pay for a certain product they wanted. You should have no problem receiving or asking for the sale or for the sign-up sheet.

Network Marketers often struggle with this. If you can take away anything from this post Remember this, you are offering a solution to people with a specific need. You are providing a service so there should be no resistance in asking for the sale.

Visualize yourself behind your own personal counter and remind yourself that you have no problem presenting your business as a viable solution and there should be no resistance to a sale or sign-up.

I've been reading a book by Jack Canfield. It is “The Success Principles, How to go from where you are to where you want to be.” It is a pretty big book, almost 500 pages. I want to quote from one of the chapters. The chapter's title is “Tell the Truth Faster”, and the question I have is, “Do you tell the truth”

“When in doubt, tell the truth. The truth will set you free. The truth also frees up our energy. Most of us are worried about hurting other people's feelings, so we do not share our true feelings, and we hurt our self instead. ”

When you're talking to someone about your business, do you tell the truth? What if a prospect asks you, “How much do you make?” Do you hedge the answer a little bit and just make it sound a little bit better than it is? Do not do that! Tell the truth.

If you're not making any money, tell them, “I'm not making any money. money, and they started right where I am. And I'm doing what they did, so I'm going to get what they got.

You exude that confidence. You tell the truth. If you know where you are going, the right people will follow you. It's that simple. So again, the question I have is, do you tell the truth when prospects ask you questions? When they say, “How big is your team?”, And your team is zero. Do you tell them, “My team is zero, but this is where I'm going. . ”

So often in life and business we are afraid the truth will not serve us so we want to exaggerate. We want to hedge our bets with “little white lies”. We see no harm in that, but there is harm. We are training our brain to not trust us. Our brain knows the truth and it hears the little white lie. We are training the people around is to not trust us. Sooner or later, the truth will catch up. SO the best advice is, when in doubt, tell the truth always /

It's your choice to tell the truth. And if you do (tell the truth) then you will not have to worry about, after you've talked to 10 different people, what you told each of them and try to remember what you said. They are going to remember and sooner or later, your reputation will be compromised or worse, destroyed.
